Dear Parents,
As I write this final newsletter of the year, it is amazing how fast the time flew. We had so many wonderful things happen. I thought I would take the opportunity to highlight some of the high points of the year:
- Cash continued to be a Performing Plus school with students continuing to show progress on the Galileo benchmark assessments.
- Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students continued to participate in our District Intermural sports program.
- Approximately 200 students attended Saturday School every week for eight weeks.
- We honored Honor Roll and Principal’s List students each quarter.
- We honored Students of the Month and Classroom of the Month on a monthly basis.
- We hosted grade level Family Nights with active participation from both students and parents.
- Students raised almost $300 for the American Heart Association through the Jump Rope for the Heart Program.
- Students from Ms. Parker’s Algebra class performed the Classroom Spotlight for the Governing Board demonstrating their Rubiks Cube solving abilities and discussing the impact of being involved in advanced math opportunities.
- Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Lifsey, received the Excellence in Education Award.
- Roadrunners Booster Club continued to provide incentives and financial assistance to student programs.
- Eighth grade student and Cash Spelling Bee winner, Edgar De La Garza, was recognized by Representative Catherine Miranda on the Floor of the House of Representatives.
- Cash students, parents, and staff had the opportunity to be involved in the Barrios Bellos Cash Community Clean Up program.
- Fourth grade students received a wonderful lesson in meteorology from our special guest Paul Horton from Channel 5.
- In addition, last but not least, we broke ground on the New Cash School with an expected move in date of December 2012.
The list could go on and on. We are thrilled with the progress our students made over the past year. There was a clear understanding and evidence of the commitment students, parents, and staff made to increasing student achievement.
Thank you for your support, your time, and your commitment. Have a safe summer.
Sincerely,

Lisa Sandomir, Principal
